Olivier Martinez is asking a court to order Halle Berry to pay $240,000 in legal fees connected to the former couple’s custody dispute, according to legal documents reported by TMZ. Martinez says his legal costs have risen sharply and that he cannot afford to cover them himself.
In a financial declaration, Martinez reported receiving an average of $776.34 per month in residual income. He says he owes $176,522.58 in unpaid legal fees and is seeking a further $63,477.42 for potential future matters related to the custody case.
The filing also lists estimated monthly expenses of $17,555.99 and $43,206.22 held across various accounts.
Recent court proceedings dissolved a temporary restraining order, while leaving in place a temporary custody arrangement that gives Martinez primary physical custody of the former couple’s 13-year-old son, Maceo. Martinez had alleged that Berry choked their son; Berry denied the allegation. Maceo later gave testimony in a closed courtroom, with both parents ordered to leave.
