The crash of a private jet near Palm Beach, which killed all nine people aboard, has prompted a major investigation. Early updates from the National Transportation Safety Board may help explain what happened as the aircraft was flying at altitude, according to a discussion on “The Low Down,” a YouTube collaboration between TMZ and the New York Post.
The panel discussed weather conditions, including a storm that appeared to contribute to ice collecting on the plane before it went down. New York Post reporter Caitlyn Becker also recounted speaking with an expert who said Learjets like the one involved do not generally perform better at higher altitudes.
The pilot had requested to climb from 35,000 to 37,000 feet, but the reason for that request remains unclear. The discussion also praised 20-year-old co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras for keeping her composure.
