Donald Trump Jr. was heckled as he left an event at Emory University’s law school in Atlanta on Wednesday. Video obtained by TMZ shows protesters shouting, “The country has rebuked you,” as he and business partner Omeed Malik departed.
According to sources cited by TMZ, Trump Jr. was at Emory to support Malik, whose name was being added to a building at his alma mater. The visit included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a fireside chat attended by about 100 students. Students had not been told in advance that Trump Jr. would be there, the report said.
Four students reportedly stood up during the discussion and shouted about fascism. They were escorted from the auditorium but continued protesting outside. The video shows Malik making an obscene gesture toward them as the two men left; sources told TMZ he intended to signal that he considered their behavior disrespectful.
Trump Jr. and Malik are partners in the same venture capital firm. The report said their visit had gone smoothly until word spread that Trump Jr. was on campus. It also noted that Democrats won control of both the House and Senate in the midterms.
