Adam Robinson had recently told a friend that life was “going too well,” as his businesses grew and his family enjoyed life in Aspen, Colorado. Jesse Ouellette, who knew Robinson, described him as an incredible person and said his loss would be deeply felt by software founders who knew him as a friend and colleague. Ouellette also remembered Robinson as someone who challenged established ways of doing things and was ahead of his time.
Days later, Robinson, his wife, Helen Sharp, and their children, 4-year-old Emma and 2-year-old Charlie, died when their private jet crashed in a residential area near Palm Beach, Florida. The family had been traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas to celebrate Robinson’s birthday, according to the report.
The crash also killed family friends Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr, the children’s nanny, Anita Maria Cetina, and the jet’s two pilots. In a statement Monday, the families remembered Robinson and Sharp as devoted parents, saying their children were the light of their lives.
Federal investigators are working to determine what caused the crash.
