Erin Benavides, the former Texas prosecutor who was accused in 2010 of having an emotional affair with Tony Parker, died by suicide, the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to Page Six. Her cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and her manner of death was ruled a suicide.

Benavides, 54, was found dead inside her Port Aransas home on Oct. 14. Police went to the residence after a friend of her husband received a concerning text message from her. Officers forced entry and found her with an apparent gunshot wound.

A police report cited by Page Six documented three firearms and multiple bullets at the scene. The Port Aransas Police Department had said that investigators did not suspect foul play, while the investigation remained ongoing.

The medical examiner’s office said Benavides’ full autopsy report was not yet available and was expected to be completed in about a week.

Benavides worked as a prosecutor in Texas and with organizations supporting vulnerable children. She resigned from her role with the 38th Judicial District in August 2026, two months before her death.
