“Dancing with the Stars” pro Pasha Pashkov and Olympic figure skater Amber Glenn have been discussing possible ideas for a finale routine well before reaching the final weeks of season 35. Glenn said the pair had already been exchanging inspiration, while stressing that their plans are not set in stone.
After their quickstep on Disney Night, Glenn told Us that the semifinals were approaching and that the pair had only one dance scheduled before then. Asked if they had begun brainstorming for the finale, Pashkov said they had. Glenn added that planning can start before the competition begins, but ideas often change along the way.
The partners have been sharing things that catch their attention and building a vision over “weeks and weeks” of discussion, Glenn said. She noted that freestyle allows for more creative freedom than the weekly dance styles, so they sometimes set ideas aside for a possible later performance. She also urged viewers to vote so they could have the chance to perform in the finale.
Pashkov and Glenn still need fan votes to reach the November 24 finale. Their Disney Night quickstep to “A Star Is Born” from “Hercules” earned 34 out of 40. Guest judge Cynthia Erivo praised the performance, calling it joyful and complimenting the dancers’ strength.
Glenn said she tries not to dwell on scores, which were lower than the 36 and 38 the pair received in the two previous weeks. Instead, she said she is focused on the experience and the personal change she has found on the show. She described enjoying the new people in her life and said she wished the experience could last longer.
She said she wants viewers to vote not because she is focused on winning, but because she wants to continue dancing and do right by Pashkov. “Dancing With the Stars” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+.
