Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix film projects “Meet Me at the Lake” and “The Wedding Date” remain in development, according to sources cited by Page Six, with no apparent progress since March. Another industry source told the publication that lengthy development is common, particularly for book adaptations that require work with their authors on scripts.
“Meet Me at the Lake,” based on Carley Fortune’s novel, has been in development since August 2023. The project is believed to have a director attached, but the director’s identity has not been disclosed. “The Wedding Date,” adapted from Jasmine Guillory’s novel, has been in development since 2025.
The projects’ status comes as Archewell Productions loses Chantal Pysnik, its longtime head of nonfiction, Deadline reported Tuesday. Pysnik was among the company’s first hires and oversaw the Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan.” She also joined the couple at the Sundance Festival in January for a screening of “Cookie Queens.”
Pysnik attended the daytime Emmy Awards last week, where “With Love, Meghan” was nominated for outstanding lifestyle program. The award went to “A Different Breed.” According to Page Six, Pysnik wanted a new chapter, and Harry and Meghan are expected to seek a replacement. Her departure leaves Nishika Kumble, senior vice president of scripted television, as a key remaining executive at Archewell.
Other former Archewell staff members who have left include former head of content Ben Browning, marketing chief Fara Taylor, president Mandana Dayani, audio boss Rebecca Sananes and production manager Bennett Levine. A source told Page Six that Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos remains supportive of the couple.
Page Six reported that the Sussexes moved back to the UK in August after six years in California. They are due to travel to Brussels next week for their first joint official overseas appearance since relocating. Representatives for the couple and Netflix were contacted for comment, according to the publication.
