Thomas Markle has reportedly been moved to a dementia care facility in Lakeland, Florida, amid an ongoing investigation in the Philippines into alleged possession of child sexual abuse images. He was photographed in a wheelchair while being transferred between care facilities on Friday, according to the report.
His daughter, Samantha Markle, said in May that he had moved to the United States to receive “ongoing medical care.” Five months later, his son Thomas Markle Jr. allegedly reported him to authorities after finding “hundreds, if not thousands” of child sexual abuse images at the Cebu home Thomas Sr. had left.
Thomas Markle Jr., 60, went public with the allegations. His father rejected them as “bulls–t” and said in a statement last week: “I could never do what I’m being accused of. … It’s just a bunch of sick lies.”
The Department of Justice’s Office of the Regional Prosecutor VII in Central Visayas, Philippines, said that “appropriate legal action may be pursued” if there is “sufficient evidence to identify any person who may be held liable.”
Meghan Markle, 45, has made one public statement about the allegations, saying she was “deeply distressed” by the news.
