Angelina Jolie attended a special screening of “Wild Horse Nine” in Los Angeles on Monday night, appearing hours after news emerged that her daughter Vivienne had legally dropped Brad Pitt’s surname. Jolie was there to support John Malkovich, her former co-star in “Changeling.”
Jolie wore a white shirt, black jacket and matching pants, with black stilettos. She briefly waved to photographers as she entered the Linwood Dunn theater. She is not involved in “Wild Horse Nine,” which was directed by Martin McDonagh and stars Malkovich, Sam Rockwell, Parker Posey and Steve Buscemi.
The film is set in Chile in 1973, shortly before the military coup that overthrew President Salvador Allende. Jolie and Malkovich previously appeared together in the 2008 film “Changeling,” for which Jolie received an Oscar nomination.
Vivienne, 18, legally changed her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie, according to a report published Monday. During the Los Angeles court hearing, Judge Virginia Keeny read out and approved Vivienne’s new legal name.
Speaking about supporting her children, Jolie said that parents should try not to interfere with a child who has a life of their own, adding: “You want to make sure that you support them.”
