Detroit Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown asked fans to keep teammate Jack Campbell in their thoughts and prayers after the linebacker was hospitalized with a neck injury during the team’s game against the Minnesota Vikings on November 1.

Speaking on the November 4 episode of his podcast, St. Brown said injuries are a difficult part of football and recalled watching Campbell on the field. He said his thoughts immediately turned to Campbell’s wife, Megan, and their newborn son, Cooper, who was born in July.

St. Brown said he hopes Campbell will recover and be able to spend time with his child. He also described how difficult it was for the team to resume playing after Campbell was taken from the field to the hospital, while acknowledging that the players had to finish the game.

In a statement released by the Lions on November 4, Campbell and his family thanked people for their support. Campbell said he has full movement in his lower body and is making progress with movement in his upper body. He added that he remains optimistic and is focusing on getting better one day at a time.
