Jack Campbell is continuing to recover after suffering a neck injury during the Detroit Lions’ Nov. 1 game against the Minnesota Vikings. Lions coach Dan Campbell said the linebacker was improving in an appearance on 97.1 The Ticket on Nov. 3.
“It’s not easy because he’s going to always be on our minds over here,” Dan Campbell said. “The good news is he is improving.” The coach and player are not related.
The update followed comments Dan Campbell made at a Nov. 2 press conference, when he described the news as positive and asked people to continue praying for the player. The Lions said that evening that Jack Campbell was resting and recovering at a local hospital, and that preliminary indications were positive. The team said it would not provide further details out of respect for Campbell and his family.
Campbell was injured in the fourth quarter of Detroit’s 19-15 win over Minnesota. After tackling Vikings player T.J. Hockenson, he was seen lying face down on the field and was taken away on a backboard. The Lions initially said he was being transported to a local hospital for evaluation of a neck injury.
Dan Campbell also praised the linebacker, who joined the Lions after being drafted in 2023 and was named a captain earlier this year. He described Jack Campbell as dependable and trusted, adding that the team respected and cared about him.
