John Wayne Bobbitt says Patrick Schwarzenegger has not contacted him about playing him in the second installment of Hulu’s true-crime anthology series, “Good American Family.” Bobbitt says he wants the actor to portray him “authentically” and stick to the facts of the case, and has offered to provide police reports to help the production present a fair and balanced account.
Schwarzenegger is set to play Bobbitt, while Isabela Merced will portray Lorena Bobbitt, his former wife. In 1993, Lorena cut off John’s penis with a kitchen knife while he was asleep at their Virginia home. She later threw it from her car, and police found it in a field; doctors were able to reattach it.
John Bobbitt was charged with marital sexual assault and acquitted by a jury. He continues to deny abusing Lorena. She was charged with malicious wounding and found not guilty by reason of temporary insanity, with the ruling citing severe physical and sexual abuse. She spent a short period in a psychiatric facility.
Bobbitt says he is considering hiring an entertainment lawyer to contact the show’s producers about presenting the facts accurately. He also said he may send them a cease-and-desist letter if he believes the series invents events. A request for comment was sent to Schwarzenegger’s representatives, but no response had been received at the time of the report.
