Cher has responded briefly after Michael Douglas said Glenn Close deserved the Oscar Cher won in 1988. A representative for the singer told Page Six: “Cher adores Michael Douglas.”
Douglas made the comment during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show with Close. He said she should have won for Fatal Attraction and praised her portrayal of Alex Forrest as one of “the greatest performances of all time.”
During the interview, Close also spoke about an honor she is set to receive at the Governors Awards in November. She joked that Academy members “probably don’t want to feel guilty anymore” after her eight nominations without a win.
Cher won the 1988 Academy Award for her performance in Moonstruck, following her second Oscar nomination.
