Tech CEO Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp and their children Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2, were among nine people killed when a Learjet 60 crashed in a Palm Beach County neighborhood on Nov. 1, according to a statement released by victims’ families the following day.
The family’s nanny, Anita Maria Cetina, and friends Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr were also aboard the aircraft. In the statement, relatives remembered Robinson and Sharp for their warmth and generosity, and described Cetina as devoted to the children and an important part of the family. Reed and Fehr were remembered for their joy and adventurous spirit.
The jet had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas for the Bahamas. National Transportation Safety Board member Tom Chapman said at a Nov. 2 news conference that the crew reported ice amid moderate turbulence before the crash, which occurred at about 12:51 p.m. local time. Chapman said ice was a factor under consideration, while emphasizing that the investigation was ongoing and that weather conditions were a major focus.
Officials had not publicly identified the flight crew. A passenger manifest obtained by CBS News identified the pilot as 55-year-old Jeffrey Gregory. The family of co-pilot Nathalia Filgueiras identified her as a 20-year-old who earned her pilot’s license while still in high school. Her sister told NBC News that becoming a pilot had been Filgueiras’ dream since childhood.
