Nicole Taylor, a member of country music trio Taylor RED, died on Sept. 28 following a battle with breast cancer. She was 35, her sisters and bandmates Nika and Natalie Taylor confirmed in a video shared on YouTube on Nov. 2.
The triplet sisters formed the group, previously known as Red Roots, in 2011. Taylor Red gained wider attention in 2021 when its song “Country Money” went viral on social media.
Nika and Natalie said Nicole was diagnosed with aggressive stage three breast cancer in 2022. She initially responded well to treatment and was told at one point that there was no evidence of the disease, but the cancer later returned and progressed to stage four. Her doctors then gave her three months to live. Nicole lived for another year before her death.
In their video, her sisters said they were heartbroken and still processing the loss. Nika said they had hoped Nicole would share a story of recovery, but found comfort in believing she was no longer suffering.
The family held a private funeral service, according to a statement on the group’s website. Nika and Natalie described Nicole, the oldest of the three sisters, as their leader and best friend, and said she would be greatly missed.
