Kiké Hernández says fatherhood is his most meaningful title, even after winning a World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers. In an interview with Us while participating in a Warner Bros. initiative celebrating DC supervillains, the 35-year-old described himself as a fun dad who can be firm, while crediting his wife, Mariana P. Vicente Hernández, with providing strong support at home.
Hernández said his wife is an exceptional mother and partner, and that her support lets him be himself and enjoy time with their children. During the offseason, he has been spending time with daughter Penélope, 5, and son Santiago, who is 8 months old. He joked that his son is currently young enough for little more than being carried, rocked and fed, while walks with Penélope give them a chance to have conversations together.
The family also dressed as characters from Suicide Squad over Halloween weekend. Hernández said the Joker is a favorite in their household, and named The Dark Knight as his favorite movie.
After the Dodgers’ 2026 season ended with a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series, Hernández has been considering what comes next as a free agent. He has expressed interest in remaining with Los Angeles, but said family life is increasingly part of the decision. His daughter is about to start kindergarten, and the family has been homeschooling her during the first semester while based in Arizona.
Hernández said relocating a family with two children and dogs, and potentially spending spring training away from home, can make the baseball schedule difficult. Half of MLB teams hold spring training in Arizona and the other half in Florida, he noted. He said the family’s support system helps ease those transitions.
