The second season of It: Welcome to Derry is expected to debut in late 2027 or 2028, according to Deadline. HBO renewed the series in 2026, but has not announced a specific premiere date.
The new season will take place in 1935, during the Great Depression, and center on the Bradley Gang, a group of bank robbers who stop in Derry to buy ammunition and encounter a terrifying threat. HBO’s official logline says the series continues to expand on the world of Stephen King’s IT novel and the films IT and IT Chapter Two.
Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane said the scripts are about halfway written and that the season has been greenlit, with Andy Muschietti involved in casting. Kane also said Pennywise will appear in a way audiences have not seen before, and that the new season will be bigger than the first.
Bill Skarsgård played Pennywise in the series, but his return for season two has not been confirmed. The first season premiered in October 2025 and concluded in December.
