Heidi Klum’s Halloween costumes have become a signature of the holiday. Over nearly three decades, the supermodel has taken on elaborate transformations involving hours of makeup, prosthetics and fittings. A ranking of 28 of her looks places her giant worm from 2022 at number one, with a severed hand from 2026 in second place and Jessica Rabbit from 2015 in third.
Klum’s worm costume took more than 10 hours to create. Her husband, Tom Kaulitz, dressed as a fisherman who had caught her. Klum called the unusual, oversized look one of her favourites, though she said it was difficult to move in and that she needed help getting up if she fell.
The 2026 severed-hand costume recreated Klum’s own hand on a much larger scale. It included a green alexandrite engagement ring, her wedding band and a “Tom” finger tattoo, along with a bloody wrist and red manicure. Jessica Rabbit, meanwhile, saw Klum use extensive padding and prosthetics to bring the animated character to life.
Other high-ranking transformations included an elderly woman in 2013, which Klum has described as a personal favourite, and an E.T. costume she and Kaulitz wore in 2024. The E.T. look featured motorized elements, a glowing finger and working mouth and eyelids. Klum also appeared as a skinless human body in 2011, Fiona from “Shrek” in 2018 and a “Thriller”-inspired werewolf in 2017.
The list also covers costumes beyond Klum’s annual parties. During the pandemic, she made two Halloween short films at home, in 2020 and 2021, after cancelling her celebrations. In the first, she hid from her zombie children by blending into household surfaces; the follow-up continued the horror story.
Her earliest looks ranked lower, including a punk-inspired S&M supermodel outfit in 2000, Lady Godiva in 2001 and Betty Boop in 2002. Across the ranking, the costumes range from straightforward character outfits to major prosthetic and mechanical creations, reflecting Klum’s recurring effort to make each Halloween look more ambitious than the last.
