Donald Trump said the United States will stop providing Israel with $4 billion in annual aid by the end of the year, describing the decision as an agreement reached with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu months ago. He made the remarks in a Fox News interview on Tuesday, November 3.

Trump said Israel had become successful enough to no longer need the funding. He also said the US would still help Israel if necessary and called it a strong ally.

During the interview, Trump described the US-Israel relationship as a partnership and argued that Israel receives more aid than any other country. He questioned why Republicans should face criticism over the issue, saying Israel no longer needs the payments.

Trump also claimed to have a 99% approval rating in Israel and said he might move there if Americans became tired of him, adding that he could become prime minister. He also praised the countries’ cooperation against Iran.
