Donald Trump said he would move to Israel and try to become prime minister if Americans grew tired of him. The president made the remark by phone on the November 3 episode of Fox & Friends, as voters headed to the polls for the midterm elections.

“If people ever get tired of me in the U.S., I’ll move to Israel and become prime minister,” Trump said. He also claimed his approval rating in the region was 99 percent and described it as the highest of anyone in history.

The comments came as Trump faced weak approval ratings in the United States. A CNN poll conducted from October 13 to 26 put his disapproval rating at 64 percent and his overall approval at 34 percent. The report said nine states rated him positively, including Wyoming, North Dakota and Arkansas.

Trump also said the United States would stop providing military aid to Israel, which he described as a thriving country that no longer needed the support. He claimed he and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had agreed months earlier to end the funding, including for the Iron Dome missile-defense system, with the money to be cut off at the end of the year. Netanyahu had not publicly commented on those claims, according to the report.

The interview took place on Election Day, with the balance of power in both chambers of Congress at stake. Hours before polls closed on the East Coast, Trump also criticized Fox News guest Jessica Tarlov in a post on Truth Social, saying he would watch another channel until she was off the air.
