Taylor Swift has revealed a playful habit she still shares with her longtime best friend, Abigail Anderson, saying it is something their husbands “have to put up with.”
Swift discussed the friendship during a special Q&A on Sunday, November 1, following a New York City screening of Toy Story 5. She appeared alongside the film’s director, Andrew Stanton. Swift contributed to the animated movie’s soundtrack with her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “I Knew It, I Knew You.”
While reflecting on the friendship between Bonnie and Blaze, two characters in the film, Swift recalled meeting Anderson after moving to Nashville at age 14. She said the pair bonded because they shared the same “genre of weird and silly” personality.
According to a video clip posted on X, Swift said that she and Anderson wanted to speak to each other in Napoleon Dynamite voices when they first became friends. She added that they still do it today, despite being married.
Swift illustrated the habit with a mock exchange about what they were doing that day, maintaining the characters’ unusual voices. She said that finding someone who fully understands “the strange little genre” of who you are resonated strongly with her while watching the film.
Swift married Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in a July 3 wedding at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, with Adam Sandler officiating. Anderson married Charles “Charlie” Berard in September 2022, and the couple welcomed their son, Bennett, in August 2024.
Kelce later described his wedding as the best night of his life and said he appreciated everyone who attended and celebrated with them. He also called getting married at Madison Square Garden a way to fulfill a childhood dream of appearing at the iconic sports venue.
