‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ will return to theaters in 3D and come to Meta VR glasses

The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping is set for a special release in early 2027. After its theatrical debut on November 20, the film is expected to return to cinemas in 3D through a collaboration between Lionsgate and Meta, according to TheWrap.

The project marks Meta’s first collaboration to convert a Hollywood feature into 3D. The film is also planned for viewing on Meta VR glasses, which will offer a 5K Infinite Display, Dolby Atmos spatial audio and Dolby Vision.

Director Francis Lawrence said the team wanted the film to draw audiences into Haymitch’s experience, and that adapting it for 3D offered another way to bring viewers closer to his perspective. Further details are expected at a later date, and other Lionsgate films could receive similar treatment.
