Sophia Bush has not returned to Chicago P.D. since leaving the series in 2017, and she has indicated there are no plans for a comeback. The actor played detective Erin Lindsay for three seasons before her character was written out of the police drama.

Bush previously described her departure as the result of growing unhappiness at work. Speaking on Refinery29’s UnStyled podcast in 2017, she said that although parts of the job were positive, she had reached a point where she realized how miserable she was going to work each day. She also alluded to a toxic set and abusive behavior by a costar, without naming the person.

At the time, reports said that Jason Beghe, who plays Sergeant Hank Voight, had been investigated by NBC over volatile behavior and offensive comments. Beghe apologized publicly for behavior he said had hurt colleagues and said he was working with a coach to manage his temper.

Bush discussed her decision to limit what she shared about Chicago P.D. in her 2026 memoir, And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes From a Life in Progress. In an October interview with Variety, she said she did not want to speak for colleagues who might not be ready to share their own experiences. She also told Entertainment Weekly that she had considered a more investigative account, but decided the most valuable contribution was explaining how she processed the experience herself.

Since leaving the show, Bush has appeared in Good Sam, Love, Victor and Grey’s Anatomy, and has continued work connected to One Tree Hill, including a rewatch podcast.
