Scarlett Johansson has spoken for the first time about joining The Batman Part II, describing her still-undisclosed role as difficult to work out and a challenge that pushed her beyond her comfort zone.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Johansson said the part gave her “a lot of existential angst” and was hard to crack. She said she was unsure whether the difficulty came from the role itself or where she is in her life.

Johansson’s character has not been identified. Speculation online has included Andrea Beaumont, also known as the Phantasm, and Poison Ivy, but neither possibility has been confirmed.

The sequel continues the story of the 2022 film, led by Robert Pattinson. Its cast also includes Sebastian Stan, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis and Jeffrey Wright. The film is currently scheduled to open in theaters on February 18, 2028.
