Rapper Rick Ross has received a significant development in his ongoing Miami domestic violence case after prosecutors dropped the felony battery charge against him. According to new court documents obtained by TMZ, the decision to dismiss the top charge was made due to insufficient evidence.
Despite the dismissal of the felony count, Ross still faces two misdemeanor charges: one for battery and another for battery involving domestic violence. Previously, the artist had pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of battery by strangulation alongside a separate misdemeanor battery accusation.
The legal proceedings stem from an incident reported by an ex-girlfriend a few weeks prior, who alleged that Ross slapped, struck, and choked her. She further claimed he grabbed her ponytail and slammed her against a wall. Following these allegations, Ross turned himself in to authorities and was arrested on the initial battery charges.
