Nicki Minaj’s former law firm is seeking a default judgment for $295,605.41 in alleged unpaid legal fees and related costs, according to Rolling Stone. Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani renewed its request in court on November 3 against the rapper and her company, Harajuku Barbie Music.

The firm says the total includes $229,541.75 in unpaid bills for its work representing Minaj, along with late charges, attorney’s fees related to pursuing the debt and court costs. A judge has not yet granted the requested judgment. The court previously entered defaults against Minaj and her company after they did not respond to the lawsuit.

The dispute follows a copyright case over Minaj’s 2014 song “I Lied.” Songwriter Julius Johnson alleged that the track copied elements of his song “onmysleeve.” That case was settled privately and dismissed, but the law firm says its bills for the representation remain unpaid.

The firm first filed its lawsuit in March 2026, and a hearing on its renewed request is scheduled for November 16. A representative for Minaj did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone’s request for comment.

The legal development comes as Minaj continues to publicly support President Donald Trump. She made a surprise appearance at a polling location in New Hampshire on November 3, during the midterm elections, and previously joined Trump at an October rally in Michigan.
