Michael Fishman says he continues to care about Roseanne Barr despite recent tension over his comments about the cancellation of the 2018 Roseanne reboot. In an interview with E! News, the actor described a lasting bond with Barr, whom he first worked with on the original series from 1988 to 1997 and later on its 2018 revival.
“I loved Roseanne from the first moment I met her at the audition,” Fishman said, recalling how their connection grew during the show. He added that he would always love and care about her.
Barr recently criticized Fishman after he said the reboot had a good reason to be cancelled following her offensive social media posts. Fishman said their disagreement did not erase his affection for her, comparing their situation to families who love one another without always seeing eye to eye.
He also said it is important to set boundaries and be clear about personal beliefs. Fishman stressed that he has not spoken negatively about Barr publicly, has reached out to offer support, and remains open to communicating with her.
Fishman also discussed his podcasts. A Lighthouse in the Dark features conversations with people doing what he described as meaningful work, while Fish’s Call Sheet focuses on the people behind the camera who help make productions possible.
