Melissa McCarthy hopes her upcoming miniseries, “The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey,” will do more than draw interest from true-crime audiences. Speaking at LAX on Monday, she said she hopes the project prompts a new investigation into the decades-old case.
McCarthy plays JonBenét Ramsey’s mother, Patsy, in the series. She also hopes it will encourage viewers to show more empathy toward people involved in real-life tragedies, saying that such cases can be treated too casually as entertainment.
