Maura Higgins described Disney Night as one of her toughest weeks on Dancing with the Stars, saying she was unwell and had little energy while learning two dances. In an Instagram post on Tuesday, November 3, she said she gave the week everything she had and was proud she continued despite the challenges.

Higgins said she joined the show knowing she was not a dancer, performer or athlete, and wanted to push herself beyond her comfort zone. She added that she is still learning, making mistakes and growing through the experience, and that some weeks will go better than others.

For the November 2 episode, Higgins and partner Mark Ballas performed a jive to “You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!” from Peter Pan. They received 32 out of 40 points, placing them at the bottom of the leaderboard in week eight.

Higgins said she was not sharing her experience to seek sympathy or make excuses, but to offer a glimpse behind the scenes. She thanked Ballas for his patience, encouragement and support, and also expressed gratitude to viewers who have continued to cheer her on. With three weeks left in the season, she said she intends to keep pushing herself.

Speaking to Us after the performance, Higgins said she was glad she made it through, noting that she had struggled to imagine going out to dance during the week. She said she was proud she kept going and did not give up.
