Mary Lynn Rajskub wants to work with Tom Cruise again, but this time she has a very different kind of project in mind: a romantic comedy without dangerous stunts or an age gap between the leads.
During an interview with Us on the set of Celebrity Weakest Link, Rajskub, 55, joked that she would like to make what she described as Cruise’s first “anti-stunt movie.” Her idea involves the pair simply spending time together, holding hands and sharing everyday moments.
Rajskub also suggested that the film could feature Cruise with a romantic partner his own age who is portrayed as an ordinary woman. She said the appeal would come from the characters being friends, doing household chores together and presenting a more grounded version of romance.
The actors previously worked together on Paul Thomas Anderson’s 1999 film Magnolia, although the scene they shared was ultimately removed from the finished movie. Rajskub has since appeared in series including 24, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Mr. Show With Bob and David and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Rajskub also discussed appearing on Celebrity Weakest Link in the show’s Ladies Who Laugh episode, alongside Nicole Byer, Heather McMahan, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Sasheer Zamata, Zarna Garg, Judy Gold and Ms. Pat. She admitted to feeling nervous because she had not researched the game show, despite having watched programs such as Match Game and Hollywood Squares when she was younger.
The comedian said the experience was enjoyable because the episode combined humorous questions with unexpected moments. She praised host Jane Lynch and the other contestants, describing the group of comedians as a particularly enjoyable part of the show.
Rajskub named Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish and Jon Hamm as possible guests for future episodes. Celebrity Weakest Link airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
