Marjorie Taylor Greene blamed Donald Trump for the Republican Party’s Election Night losses, saying he urged Americans to vote as if he were on the ballot and that voters instead supported Democrats.
Speaking to Jacob on Tuesday night, Greene criticized Republicans for standing behind Trump rather than addressing voters’ concerns, including health insurance, rising costs and foreign wars. She accused lawmakers of acting like “cheerleading, clapping like baby seals” instead of working on those issues.
Greene was not the only one to compare the party’s loyalty to Trump to a cult. CNN’s Van Jones likened the Republican losses to Jonestown, saying Republicans were paying at the ballot box for not standing up to Trump.
Greene said Republicans should focus less on pleasing Trump and securing invitations to Mar-a-Lago, and more on delivering the promises they made to voters.
