Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell says he has full movement in his lower body and is making progress with movement in his upper body, three days after a neck injury sent him to hospital following a game against the Minnesota Vikings.

In a statement shared by the Lions on Wednesday, the 26-year-old said he was encouraged by his recovery so far. He acknowledged that more work lies ahead but said he remains optimistic and is taking things one day at a time.

Campbell also thanked the athletic trainers and medical staff who assisted him on the field, as well as the teams at Henry Ford Hospital and the Lions. He described his teammates and coaches as family and said his faith remains strong.

The injury occurred in the fourth quarter of Detroit’s 19-15 win over Minnesota on Sunday. Campbell’s helmet struck T.J. Hockenson’s hip during a tackle. He remained motionless on the field for several minutes before being placed on a backboard and taken by cart to a local hospital.

Lions coach Dan Campbell said on Monday there was positive news about the linebacker and asked fans to keep him in their prayers. Jack Campbell echoed that request in his statement, saying, “God is good. My faith is strong.”
