Lil Durk has been placed in solitary confinement at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles while awaiting trial on racketeering and firearms charges, according to information cited by TMZ.
Jose Rojas, a union secretary representing Bureau of Prisons employees, said Durk was transferred to the facility’s Special Housing Unit on Friday. Sources cited in the report said the rapper’s cell had been searched repeatedly, but authorities had not found contraband since his acquittal in the murder-for-hire case.
According to those sources, Durk questioned the deputy warden about the searches and was allegedly reprimanded for talking back. The Bureau of Prisons did not confirm details about his housing or the reason for the placement.
“For privacy, safety, and security reasons we do not discuss the conditions of confinement for any individual in our custody, including housing assignments, potential disciplinary infractions, or internal security measures,” a BOP spokesperson told TMZ.
Durk was found not guilty in the murder-for-hire trial in September. His separate trial on felony racketeering and firearms charges was originally scheduled for the previous month but has been postponed until next August.
