Lenny Kravitz’s team is addressing false reports that the 62-year-old musician died in a plane crash near Palm Beach, Florida, over the weekend. In a statement to TMZ, his representatives said, “The reports are untrue and incorrect.”
The misinformation spread online Sunday after a Learjet 60 crashed in a residential area near the Cresthaven neighborhood. Online users mistakenly identified the pilot and connected her to Kravitz after finding a previous photo in which she said she had flown him on a similar route.
The pilot later addressed the speculation in a TikTok statement, saying she had learned about the rumors and wanted to clarify that she was not the pilot of the aircraft involved in the crash. She also asked people to stop speculating and spreading misinformation about the tragedy and expressed sympathy for those affected.
The private jet was carrying nine people when it crashed about eight miles from Mar-a-Lago. All nine people aboard were killed. Dispatch audio released after the crash captured the aircraft’s final moments, including a woman shouting, “Holy f***, we’re out of time.”
The co-pilot was identified as a 20-year-old woman who obtained her pilot’s license before graduating from high school.
