Johnny Depp has begun the press tour for his new Christmas movie, ‘Ebenezer’, with a special screening in New York City on Sunday, November 1. The event took place at The Whitby Hotel and brought together Depp, fellow cast members Andrea Riseborough and Tramell Tillman, and director Ti West.

The film is based on Charles Dickens’ 1843 novel ‘A Christmas Carol’. Its official logline describes Depp as Ebenezer Scrooge while promising a version of the familiar story with elements audiences have not seen before.

Depp leads a large ensemble cast as Scrooge. Rupert Grint plays Bob Cratchit, Riseborough portrays the Ghost of Christmas Past, Sam Claflin appears as Fred, Daisy Ridley plays Emily Cratchit and Arthur Conti portrays a young Ebenezer. Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, Tillman as the Ghost of Christmas Present and Ian McKellen as Jacob Marley also star.

‘Ebenezer’ is scheduled to open in theaters on November 13. The release marks Depp’s first major wide theatrical release since 2018’s ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’.
