Jennifer Hudson has paid tribute to Matthew Wright, a former producer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show who helped launch The Jennifer Hudson Show. Wright died on October 30 at age 52. His cause of death has not been publicly confirmed.
In an Instagram post, Hudson said Wright had visited the set the previous Thursday for the show’s Halloween episode. She remembered the impact he had on people in the industry and sent condolences to his family and loved ones.
Wright worked on The Ellen DeGeneres Show for 16 years. Hudson’s program is filmed on the stage previously used by that show.
A GoFundMe fundraiser set up to support Wright’s family said his husband, Justin, and other relatives were seeking help with funeral and memorial costs. It also noted that Wright and Justin had both been laid off over the summer.
