Rep. Jasmine Crockett criticized Nicki Minaj’s political messaging during an interview in New York City on Tuesday, accusing the rapper of acting in her own interest and fueling division and hate.
Crockett also pointed to what she described as a double standard: Minaj, who is not a U.S. citizen, acting as a MAGA supporter while other immigrants are being detained by ICE under President Trump.
Although Crockett said she disagrees with Minaj’s politics, she encouraged people to use their platforms to bring others together. She said Muslims and Jewish people should be on the same side in Michigan and elsewhere, and also discussed why she feels hopeful about the country’s future.
