James Carville is facing criticism after attacking Rep. Haley Stevens for crossing party lines to endorse Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan’s Senate race.

During Sunday’s episode of his Politicon podcast, the veteran Democratic strategist declared that Stevens’ political career was over and compared her treatment by Republicans to that of a “used condom.” He also said Democrats did not consider her worth one.

Carville continued his tirade with another profane remark directed at Stevens and brought Sen. John Fetterman into the discussion, suggesting that Fetterman and Stevens should open a cheeseburger restaurant together.

Stevens endorsed Rogers two days before Election Day, reversing her earlier support for Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, who had defeated her in the Democratic primary. The decision drew criticism from Democratic leaders.

The endorsement followed concerns raised by Stevens’ fiancé, Jason Turkish, who said during an appearance on “TMZ Live” that she could withdraw her support unless El-Sayed condemned campaign advertisements she regarded as antisemitic. El-Sayed’s campaign later said Stevens no longer felt welcome on his campaign trail, after which she backed Rogers.
