Jack Osbourne says the relatively limited impact of multiple sclerosis on his day-to-day life has sometimes left him feeling like an impostor among people with the condition. He discussed those feelings on the Nov. 3 episode of the MeSsy podcast, hosted by Christina Applegate and Jamie-Lynn Sigler.

Osbourne said he was diagnosed 14 years ago and feels conflicted when he attends MS events and meets people who have had the disease for less time but are experiencing greater difficulties. Although MS affects him, he said it has not stopped him or significantly slowed him down.

He was diagnosed in 2012, three weeks before the birth of Pearl, his daughter with his then-wife, Lisa Stelly. Osbourne said he cannot control how the disease will develop in his body, but can choose how he responds to it mentally. He also acknowledged that depression can flare up and said he works to remind himself that he has some say in how he copes.

Applegate, who said she had recently learned that doctors had misdiagnosed her after a five-year public battle with what she had been told was MS, responded with a joke about feeling like a fraud herself. She added that she remains committed to supporting the MS community and the people she has come to know through it.
