Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell was taken to a local hospital after suffering a suspected neck injury during Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field in Detroit. The 26-year-old appeared unable to move after tackling Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson in what initially looked like a routine play.

FOX NFL commentators described Campbell as “immobilized.” Lions athletic training staff attended to him before he was placed on a backboard and transported from the field by cart. The Lions later said on X that Campbell was being taken to a local hospital for evaluation of a neck injury. No further medical update had been publicly released at the time of publication.

Players from both teams took a knee while Campbell received medical attention, and the stadium fell quiet. Several Lions teammates, including edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, appeared visibly upset as Campbell was treated and removed from the field.

Sideline reporter Erin Andrews said a member of the team described Campbell as central to the defense, telling her, “This is Jack Campbell’s defense.” Color commentator Tom Brady acknowledged the difficulty of returning to play after witnessing a serious injury, while noting that Campbell was receiving medical care.

The Lions went on to defeat the Vikings 19-15.
