Hannah Einbinder followed through on a promise to impersonate Michigan Rep. Haley Stevens after Abdul El-Sayed won the state’s Senate race. The Hacks star had said on Instagram Story that she would debut her “perfect Haley Stevens impression” if her preferred candidates won that night.
After the result was called, Einbinder shared a video from a bar, speaking in her impression of Stevens: “We’re gonna give ’em a little bit of energy, a little bit of pow, a little bit of stick it to ’em, cos that’s the Michigan way!” She later congratulated El-Sayed in another post, writing, “Mazel tov, Abdul.”
El-Sayed won the Democratic Senate primary against Stevens, who lost the contest and endorsed Republican Mike Rogers days before the election. The result makes El-Sayed the first Muslim elected to the U.S. Senate, according to the source report.
