Liam Fitzgerald died from blunt force injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash on Oct. 30, and his death was ruled an accident, a spokesperson for Broward County’s Office of Medical Examiner and Trauma Services told People on Nov. 4. Fitzgerald was 29.
His girlfriend, Jamie Lyn Rinaldi, had confirmed his death in an Instagram post on Oct. 31, saying he suffered severe injuries and that efforts to save him were unsuccessful.
Fitzgerald’s family remembered him in a statement posted to his Instagram on Nov. 1, describing him as someone who brought energy to the people around him and inspired family, friends, teammates and others.
They also praised his work ethic and said he was proud of the life he was building. While acknowledging that he faced personal struggles, his family said he sought to show others that they could recover from difficult times and keep working to improve.
