Erin Benavides had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.401% when she died, according to an autopsy and toxicology report released Wednesday. The report also found isopropanol and acetone in her system.
The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Benavides, 54, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and ruled her death a suicide. Responding officers forced their way into her home and found her body; three firearms and multiple bullets were recorded at the scene.
The report said Benavides had previously made suicidal comments, including in text messages to family members. Port Aransas police had said they suspected no foul play, while noting the investigation was ongoing.
Benavides was previously married to former NBA player Brent Barry. In 2010, she denied allegations that she had an emotional affair with Tony Parker, who was married to Eva Longoria at the time. Parker and Barry were teammates on the San Antonio Spurs from 2004 to 2008. Longoria filed for divorce from Parker in November 2010.
Benavides later worked as a prosecutor in Texas and with organizations supporting vulnerable children. She served with the 38th Judicial District and resigned in August 2026.
