Ellen DeGeneres has donated $5,000 to a GoFundMe for Matthew Wright, the former executive producer of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, who died at 52. The fundraiser is intended to bring his body from Los Angeles to New York and help pay for funeral and memorial costs.

The campaign had reached and exceeded its $50,000 goal by Tuesday morning, following nearly 400 donations. Allison Holker, the widow of the show’s DJ Stephen “tWitch” Boss, contributed $500, while longtime executive producer Andy Lassner donated $1,000.

DeGeneres shared an emotional video on Instagram on Monday, remembering Wright as a kind, smart person who made her laugh. She said she loved him and believed he and Boss, who died in December 2022 at 40, were now together, dancing and laughing.

According to the fundraiser, Wright died on Friday while working remotely in Los Angeles. He worked on the show from 2006 until its 2022 finale and appeared on camera several times.
