David Charvet has spoken about the promise he made to his then-wife, Brooke Burke, before becoming a father. During an appearance on the Sibling Revelry podcast, in an episode published Tuesday, November 3, he discussed his decision to leave acting and focus on being present for his children.

“I promised Brooke at the time that I would be a very present father,” Charvet said. He explained that he had a close relationship with his stepfather, who was often around, but did not have the same kind of relationship with his biological father.

Charvet and Burke share two children: daughter Heaven Rain, 19, and son Shaya Braven, 18. He said he wanted to be there for their everyday lives, from mornings and bedtime to their events. He also recalled that, as a child, it was difficult when certain people were absent from his own events.

Before stepping away from the spotlight, Charvet was known for roles in Baywatch and Melrose Place.
