Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said the team had no new information about linebacker Jack Campbell after the player was taken to a local hospital for evaluation following a suspected neck injury during Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.

“Thoughts and prayers are with Jack and his family,” Dan Campbell told reporters after the game. “He’s being taken care of — we don’t have any new information. We’ll keep you updated as this goes.”

Jack Campbell was immobilized after tackling Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson. The linebacker appeared unable to move following the fall, prompting Lions medical staff to attend to him before he was placed on a backboard and taken from the field on a cart.

The Lions later confirmed through their official X account that Campbell was being transported to a local hospital to be evaluated for a neck injury.

Players from both teams took a knee after the incident, while the crowd at Detroit’s Ford Field fell silent. Several Lions players appeared visibly emotional as medical personnel treated Campbell and as he was removed from the field.

Speaking from the sideline, Erin Andrews said one member of the team described Campbell as central to the Lions’ defense, saying that the defense “goes through him” and that everyone in the locker room understood his importance.

Former NFL quarterback and game commentator Tom Brady said it was difficult for the players to return to action after seeing a teammate suffer what appeared to be a serious injury. He added that Campbell was receiving medical attention and that the team had to resume its responsibilities on the field.

Detroit went on to defeat Minnesota 19-15, handing the Vikings their first loss of the 2026-2027 NFL season.
