Colman Domingo has reflected on attending high school with Will Smith, describing their different social circles at Philadelphia’s Overbrook High School. Domingo said they shared gym and science classes, but were never friends: Smith was “the cool kid,” while he was “the nerd.”
Speaking on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast with Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco, Domingo said Smith was the most popular student at the school. At the time, Smith was a local rapper performing with Jazzy Jeff, and, Domingo recalled, the “cool kids” went to see them.
Domingo said he has rarely crossed paths with Smith since they both became famous. He recalled one encounter while he was working as a waiter at a restaurant in Philadelphia, and said he expects they will meet again someday, with a shared connection to the city.
