Bob Dylan met Pope Leo XIV during a brief private audience at the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace on Wednesday, November 4. Dylan wore a black hoodie with matching trousers and gloves, along with a polka-dot scarf, according to the source report.

The pope gave Dylan a rosary, and the musician presented Leo with a copy of his autobiography, “Chronicles: Volume One.”

The meeting followed an earlier reference to Dylan’s unpublished protest song “Go Away You Bomb” in Leo’s book “Disarmed and Disarming: Peace Is a Gift,” released this summer. Dylan wrote the song in 1963 for Greenwich Village Protest Center founder Izzy Young, who said Dylan brought it to him the day after Young asked people he knew to write songs about nuclear weapons.

Dylan is among several musicians to have met Leo. Patti Smith wrote about meeting the pope at the Vatican in July, while Leo met Bad Bunny the previous month.
