Netflix has not officially renewed Black Doves for a third season as of November 4, but creator Joe Barton says planning for more episodes is already underway. The series’ creative team has set up a writers’ room for a possible continuation, and Barton described Netflix as supportive of the show.
Speaking on the Pilot TV podcast, released November 2, Barton said the question of another season remains an ongoing conversation. He added that Netflix has expressed interest in recommissioning the spy thriller, but no formal decision has been announced.
Barton also outlined some ideas for a potential third season. The team has discussed exploring the backstories of Eleanor and Williams, the assassins played by Gabrielle Creevy and Ella Lily Hyland. He also said there are more stories to tell about Helen and Sam, including parts of their past that have been referenced or filmed but have not appeared on screen.
The series stars Keira Knightley as Helen Webb, who secretly works for a covert organization while married to a powerful British politician. Ben Whishaw plays Sam Young, an assassin and Helen’s longtime friend, while Sarah Lancashire appears as Mrs. Reed.
Black Doves premiered in December 2024 and was renewed for a second season before its debut. Season 2 is scheduled to arrive on Netflix on November 5, with all six episodes released on the same day.
