Annie Potts has suggested that her appearances as Connie “Meemaw” Tucker on Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage could become less frequent because of her workload on Best Medicine.

“It’s a little harder to do them both now,” Potts, 74, told Us from the set of the Fox series. She added that future appearances depend on whether the production can fit her into its schedule.

Potts explained that Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage, which is filmed before a live audience with three cameras, takes every third week off. Best Medicine, by contrast, maintains a continuous production schedule of around 15 hours a day through Christmas. She said she expected to be able to return to the spinoff after the holiday period.

Potts played Meemaw throughout Young Sheldon’s seven-season run, beginning with the show’s CBS premiere in 2017. After the series ended in 2024, she said she felt “devalued” when she was not offered a series-regular role on its spinoff.

The actress previously described her position on Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage as unusual, saying she felt like a guest in a place that had once been her own. The spinoff had indicated that members of the Sheldon family might appear occasionally rather than remain regular cast members.

Potts is now a regular on Best Medicine, which is adapted from the British series Doc Martin. She plays the aunt of Josh Charles’ Dr. Martin Best and said she would also welcome the chance to work again with former Young Sheldon costar Iain Armitage.

Best Medicine airs Tuesdays on Fox at 8 p.m. ET.
